MAC-CHEESE
SIDE NOTE: To simplify things for you, try completing each task one at a time to avoid any confusion.
- Cook the Pasta:
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Make the Cheese Sauce:
- In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Gradually pour in the milk, whisking continuously until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken (about 3-5 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese. Keep stirring until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Combine:
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring until the pasta is evenly coated.
- Optional Baking:
- If you prefer a baked mac and cheese, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac and cheese to a greased baking dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top, and bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
