Add the macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside. Make the Cheese Sauce: In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually pour in the milk, whisking continuously until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken (about 3-5 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese.
